Virginia Artist, Nancy Whitfill’s Solo Exhibit.

Nancy is a self-taught artist whose current work reflects her
fascination with depicting glass and wine, both of which are very
abstract. Nancy credits her twenty-four years in the Air Force for her
desire to paint in the realistic and photorealistic styles.
March 6-7: Barrel Tasting Weekend, both days, with two new
releases, Saturday and Sunday, with tastings scheduled hourly. Be the
first to taste our new Rose and Late Harvest Vidal ’08 wines. Personally
meet with the winemaker and learn the secrets of making premium Virginia
wine. Open to the public, $15 per person. Free to VIP Club Members. Call

March 13: Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – Have a serving of
Irish Stew to warm the cockles of your heart. Have a hearty serving to
include Irish Stew, Crusty Bread, and Glass of Wine…all for $10.00 per
person plus tax. Warm up by the fire and enjoy our wines!
And for children of all ages…Li’l Leprechauns’ Hunt for the Pot of
Gold returns to the Vineyard. Find the colorful Shamrocks in the
vineyard for a delicious reward! All are welcome and admission is free.
March 20: Wine Tasting Class 103
– Philip Carter v. California – $25 per person. Free to VIP members
(1:00-3:00); a comparative tasting of similar varieties and contrasting
styles.
March 20: Poor Ellen Smith
entertains, 2-5 p.m. A brand new acoustic duo with a unique, fresh
approach to traditional American music. Their singing and high-powered
guitar picking conjures up musical worlds reaching from Doc Watson to
Jerry Garcia.

March 27: Wine Education Class
101 - Free Admission (1:00-3:00)
An interactive class in Wine Appreciation:
Why Wine? Explore social impacts, intellectual aspects, and sensual
appreciation along with Wine Tasting focusing on color, the nose, style
and quality, and palate sensations or the “feel”.
March 27: Mountain Laurel Montessori School Benefit, 7-10
p.m. This charity event takes place at the vineyard with special wine
discounts and free tastings with the price of admission. The winery is
also open to the public on this special day for regular tastings, glass
and bottle sales.
April 3: Winemaking Seminar Class
102 – Free Admission (1:00-3:00) “From Grape to Glass”. A
comprehensive look at winemaking and a general overview of the aspects
of terroir and taste and everything in between
April 4: EASTER SUNDAY – CLOSED, but don't forget the PC Wines for
your Family Dinner!

April 17: Hunt Country Suspense novelist, Jan Neuharth,
joins us for the afternoon from 1-5 p.m. for a book signing. Her novels
capture the colorful lifestyle of the old-money, tweedy, horsey
community of Middleburg, Virginia, just outside of Washington, DC. Ms.
Neuharth is an attorney and equestrian consultant, having practiced law
in Los Angeles before moving to the Virginia hunt country in 1985 to
establish Paper Chase Farms, one of the premier equestrian facilities of
its kind. Her debut novel, The Hunt, was a Benjamin Franklin Award
finalist and was nominated for a Library of Virginia Literary Award. The
Chase won the IPPY Gold Medal for Best Regional Fiction and was a
Notable Winner of the Eric Hoffer Award. She is at work on the third
novel in her Hunt Country Suspense Series.
April 17: Fly the Philip Carter Skies!! Kite Flying and Contest
for Highest Flying, Most Creative Kites. Start a competition in your
own family first, talk to your neighbors and children’s friends. Have
team kite making competitions! Then bring your creations to fly, have a
picnic and relax in the fresh, open air. Be colorful, imaginative and
fanciful in your designs. May the Best Kites Win! This is for all ages!
April 17: Winemakers Dinner at The Marriott Ranch – the
popular Winter Winemakers Dinner Series features a gourmet five-course
meal paired with Philip Carter wines. Dinners are $99 per person
(includes service charge, tax additional), beginning promptly at 7:00
p.m. Inn reservations are available. Please call 540.364.2627 for

April 24: Annandale High School Day – The second annual AHS
Day, this year it’s a benefit for TBD and all proceeds go to this
charity. Admission is a $10.00 donation that gets entrant 10% off on
wines and a free tasting! Open to every graduate and families are
welcome and invited. Returning for 2010 is the Most Spirited Dressed
Contest. Winners get 50% off wine purchases for 2010 for first place,
25% off wine purchases in 2010 for second place, and 15% off wine
purchases for 2010 for third place. Live music, great food, moon bounce
and entertainment. Hotel or Bed & Breakfast reservations may be made for
April 23 and April 24 in the name of Philip Carter Winery/Annandale High
